Es 21 de febrero y The New Yorker cumple 100 años, comemos uno de los mejores pain chocolat de París y hacemos 100 retratos en 24 horas paseando por la ciudad de la luz Y el amor - al croissant - . Bon Appetit!
It's February 21st and The New Yorker is 100 years old, we eat one of the best pain chocolat in Paris and take 100 portraits in 24 hours walking around the city of light and love - to croissant - . Bon Appetit!

Publicada 47 veces al año (uno de mis números favoritos) de forma quincenal The New Yorker empezó siendo una revista semanal con la intención por parte de su fundador de publicar “Humor sofisticado”. El matrimonio Harold Ross y Jane Grant, cronista de New York Times, inauguraron TNY el 17 de febrero de 1925 y su primer número fue el 21 del mismo mes, justo hoy hace 100 años. Mi historia personal con esta revista de artículos, reportajes, críticas, ensayos, poesías y relatos es, como la propia revista, sofisticada y muy divertida. Siempre que puedo voy a comprarla a la Shakespeare & Co, la librería inglesa del otro lado del río (Rive Gauche) porqué, a parte de que me encanta la librería y el café, ponen el sello de la tienda en todos sus libros y revistas. Pues bien, en 2019 tuve una odisea con unos armarios antiguos que compré (empieza la magia) y que me dieron varios quebraderos de cabeza. El día que se suponía debía resolver, sin asegurarme el éxito, el tema de los armarios, preferí quedar con una amiga en este café de la Shakespeare & Co. La magia quiso que por solo 12€ en el mismo café encontrara la edición “25 aniversario The New Yorker”, un libro original de los años 50 que recoge los primeros 25 años de la revista (ver foto). Published 47 times a year (one of my favorite issues) on a bi-weekly basis The New Yorker began as a weekly magazine with the intention of its founder to publish “Sophisticated Humor”. Harold Ross and Jane Grant, a New York Times columnist, launched TNY on February 17, 1925 and its first issue was on the 21st of the same month, just 100 years ago today. My personal history with this magazine of articles, features, reviews, essays, poetry and stories is, like the magazine itself, sophisticated and a lot of fun. Whenever I can I go to buy it at Shakespeare & Co, the English bookstore across the river (Rive Gauche) because, apart from the fact that I love the bookstore and the cafe, they put the store's stamp on all their books and magazines. Well, in 2019 I had an odyssey with some antique cabinets I bought (the magic begins) that gave me several headaches. The day I was supposed to solve, without ensuring success, the issue of the cabinets, I preferred to meet a friend in this cafe in the Shakespeare & Co. Magic would have it that for only 12 euros in the same cafe I found the “25th anniversary edition of The New Yorker”, an original book from the 50's that collects the first 25 years of the magazine (see photo). Para celebrar este aniversario he pensado en hacer algo un tanto viral: regalar 100 retratos que haré hoy viernes 21 en un challenge, dibujados en 24 horas. No sabía que la gente tenía tanta hambre de dibujos y la convocatoria ha sido un éxito. Por eso planeo hacer otra más adelante celebrando la PARIS FASHION WEEK. Lanzaré las instrucciones el próximo jueves 27 de febrero a las 19:00 H, ponte alarmas, apúntatelo en el brazo con boli. Nunca se sabe cuando la suerte va a venir a por ti.
To celebrate this anniversary I thought of doing something a bit viral: to give away 100 portraits that I will make today Friday 21st in a challenge, drawn in 24 hours. I didn't know that people were so hungry for drawings and the call has been a success. That's why I plan to do another one later celebrating PARIS FASHION WEEK. I will release the instructions next Thursday, February 27 at 19:00 H, set alarms, write it on your arm with a pen. You never know when luck is going to come for you.

📍Boulangerie L'Amandine . 50 Rue Doudeauville. 75018 Paris

Fuera de todo circuito turístico, famoso y monumental, esta boulangerie tiene, según mi experimentada opinión, uno de los mejores pain au chocolat de París: Los extremos son crujientes en cada capa del hojaldre y el chocolate esta bien repartido y algo cremoso, teniendo el punto amargo justo. Nadie, ninguna guía y ningún blog va a recomendarte esta zona como interés turístico, cosa que hace incluso mejor nuestro hallazgo. Aparte de los clásicos franceses, tienen repostería árabe. RECOMIENDO TAMBIÉN, para la comida no dulce, una especie de piadina, que a priori parece pequeña pero que es bastante grande.
Off the beaten track, famous and monumental, this boulangerie has, in my experienced opinion, one of the best pain au chocolat in Paris: The ends are crunchy in each layer of the pastry and the chocolate is well distributed and somewhat creamy, having just the right bitter point. No one, no guidebook and no blog is going to recommend this area as a tourist attraction, which makes our find even better. Aside from the French classics, they have Arabic pastries. I ALSO RECOMMEND, for the non sweet meal, a kind of piadina, which at first glance seems small but is quite large.
